Origin: S. Africa

Therapeutic actions: Astringent; Anti-fungal; Anti-bacterial; Anti-viral; Abortifacient; Alterative; Anthelmintic; Antibiotic; Anti-inflammatory; Antiseptic; Bitter; Cathartic; Cell proliferant; Cholagogue; Decoagulant; Demulcent; Depurative; Emmenagogue; Emollient; Insecticide; Laxative; Purgative; Stimulant; Stomachic; Tonic; Vermifuge; Vulnerary.

Nutrients: Amino acids, calcium, folate, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E.

Drug interactions: Supports those taking glyburide. Check with doctor if on topical corticosteroids.

Description: Aloe has been used to treat burns and other wounds since ancient times. It has been able to increase the amount of blood flow to areas of burned tissue, stimulate cell regeneration, relieve pain, reduce inflammation and decrease redness. It has also been used internally for people with poor circulation, AIDS, skin and digestive disorders.

Internal uses: It has been used for colic, colitis, Crohn’s disease, indigestion, constipation, stomach ulcers, cancer, diabetes, depression, liver problems, hay fever, tonsillitis, chronic fatigue, lack of energy, high blood pressure, insomnia, asthma, amenorrhea, spastic colon, intestinal parasites and urinary tract infections.

External uses: Burns, gingivitis, acne, bunions, corns, arthritis, tennis elbow, dandruff, hair loss, sunburn, stretch marks, sun spots, skin cancer, liver spots, itching, radiation burns, ulcers, heat rashes, chapped skin, eye infections, abscesses, hemorrhoids, insect bites, allergies, chickenpox, shingles, hives, athlete’s foot, bed sores, chronic ulcers, varicose veins and psoriasis.

Suggested dosage: 50-200 mg daily.

Caution: Should not be used if you have or develop diarrhea, loose stools or abdominal pain. It has no side effects, only rare cases of allergies have been reported.
