Botanical name: Ruscus aculeatus

Origin: Albania

Therapeutic actions: Aperient; Deobstruent; Depurative; Diaphoretic; Diuretic; Vasoconstrictor.

Nutrients: Calcium, chromium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, B3 and C.

Drug interactions: No known drug interactions.

Description: It has been taken internally in the past in the treatment of jaundice, gout, kidney and bladder stones. Today it is used for hemorrhoids and varicose veins.

Internal uses: It has been used to build up the structure of the veins and increase circulation to help prevent post-operative thrombosis, phlebitis, varicose veins and hemorrhoids. It has also strengthened the blood vessels and help to keep the veins clean and healthy, as well as prevent blood-clotting via its diuretic effect.

Caution: Do not use if taking MAO inhibitors or with high blood pressure.

Suggested dosage: 1000 mg 3 times daily.
