Eczema is an inflammation of the skin which causes itching and sometimes scaling and blisters. Some forms are also known as dermatitis. Often, the cause is unknown; sometimes, it is due to allergies.

THE RASH

Keeping in mind the principle “Unless the cause of the problem is identified, the problem will persist,” this case is a good example.
An 87 year old lady has been suffering from a progressive rash for more than a year. The rash involves both arms face, neck, and starting to involve her chest and back. She has been to a primary physician and a dermatologist, both of which prescribed various types of creams and ointments. Despite this traditional approach her rash is getting worse. Probably the quickest way to determine if food may be causing a problem, any problem, is to stop eating the suspected food or better yet to go on a short lemon juice, maple syrup, water fast.

Various celebrities, such as Beyonce, have sung the praises of the lemon juice cleanse. With drastic weight loss stories and sexy bodies to boot, it’s no wonder that people are flocking to the lemon juice fast with excitement. People have fasted for thousands of years for a variety of reasons. Many of those reasons were and are religious, such as Lent and Ramadan. 10 Day Lemon Juice Fast Cleanse

The fast that I’ll be describing here is known as the 10 Day Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs. It has also been called the Lemon Juice Maple Syrup Fast. It has been used by hundreds and thousands of people around the world to dramatically boost their overall health.

If you’re already healthy and in good shape, you probably don’t need to do the 10 day lemon juice cleanse. Anyone who is underweight, cold, weak, recovering from sickness, pregnant, has a heart condition, colitis, epilepsy and diabetes should refrain from doing it.

While this juice fast is relatively safe, especially when compared with other fasts, you must talk to a health professional before beginning.
How to Do the Lemon Juice Cleanse

For this fast, there are three main parts:

Lemon Juice
Salt Water
Herbal and Laxative Teas

The Lemon Juice

2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder (use less if you can’t handle the spice)
8 ounces / 250 mL of water

For 10 days, drink 6 to 12 glasses of this mixture each day. Drink water throughout the day whenever you feel thirsty.
Salt Water

1 quart of lukewarm water

Drink the entire mixture at one time upon waking in the morning.

On the first day after the 10 days (day 11), make fresh orange juice and drink whenever you feel the need.

On the second day, incorporate a variety of fruit and vegetable juice into your diet. If possible, also consume soup and broth. The increased intake of nutrients helps your body adjust back into its state.

On the third day, you can start eating again (YAY!). But don’t go out and gorge yourself on junk food. Instead, eat only live foods. Consume fresh, raw fruits and vegetables. Remove processed foods, meat and dairy, at least for this day.

On the fourth day (and the rest of your life), be sure to upgrade your eating habits. The lemon juice fast has likely cleansed you and restored your health, however you will lose these benefits if you consume an unhealthy diet.

Make a determined effort to eat healthy and get lots of exercise. Focus on fruits and vegetables and learn to look forward to going shopping for them. If you eat meat, eat only grass fed beef as well as dairy products that come from grass-fed cows. The benefits of healthy eating will change your life.
Quick Tips for an Awesome Lemon Juice Fast

Store your lemons on the counter to ripen, not in the fridge. When you refrigerate produce, the enzymes become dormant. If you buy a large number of lemons in preparation for the fast, always keep at least 10 out of the fridge. This will ensure that the enzymes are active when you juice them.

It goes without saying that the lemon juice needs to be fresh. Don’t even try the 10 day lemon juice maple syrup fast with bottled lemon juice. To make the lemon juice, you can use a citrus juicer or an electronic juicer. When I juice lemons, I use a centrifugal juicer, however a masticating juicer would work well too.

Within a week she was improving and within a month was 80+% well. Of course the question is can she resume eating bread? Maybe, depending on a variety of factors which would include adrenal support, improved digestion, diet, and other stresses in her life. There is no way to predict what she will be able to tolerate but by identifying the cause of the problem we are in a much better position of dealing with the future.
The moral of the story; When dealing with any chronic condition think of food allergies as a contributing factor and think about doing the lemon juice fast.
